Hello lovebugs! Did you miss me?
How was everyone's weekend?
We got snow! ugh! Saturday we were up and outside shoveling by 8 am! Built a tiny little hill next to our fence so the kids on the block could sled a little bit! Then a few hours later we took our boys and 2 of my sons friends and we went sledding in 3 different places! It was a lot of fun! Like every other day we had a house full of kids! My son has this one friend, who has a sister and a few cousins. Well they are at our house everyday for hours, from the time they get home from school (3:45ish) until about 9pm. Sometimes is it very annoying but these kids have parents who just don't care. I gave the little girl a pair of brown boots I got myself for Christmas that I never even wore, because she's walking around in slippers, in the snow. The mommy in me comes out and I would much rather know they are safe in my house than wondering around the streets. The girls don't even have good winter coats, they are just always wearing hoodies. I just don't know what to do? Anyone have any advice? I don't mind most days but some days it is just way to much! On Sunday my son and I went to the Humane Society so he could read to the cats! Why? They have this little volunteer program for kids k-5th grade. If a child isn't the best at reading and gets nervous to read in the class because they don't want to get made fun of this allows them to read to an audience who doesn't judge them and just needs attention! Now Bren is the top reader in his class but I love cats and am unable to have them due to my husband being allergic! It doesn't hurt to have him read extra and we get to give these animals the attention they don't get often! It was wonderful!
Let's get to the part that everyone has been impatiently waiting to see all weekend ;)
My DIY!
I made some DIY makeup palettes.
All I needed was cardboard, magnetic sheets, magnetic tape, scrissors, fancy paper and glue! I wanted to do a picture tutorial so you could see the steps I followed but I didn't follow anything specific. I saw it on pinterests looked at the pictures and then went from there! The first one I made I tore apart because I hated it! I did two different ones!
This is the second one I did because I had some stuff left over and tried this out.
I took a cd case, took the cd out, covered the bottom with a magnetic sheet, glued plan paper over the back to cover up the ugly bottom of the magnetic sheet and then cut some cute paper to size and put it in the front!
Here is the inside!
and here is a picture of the back~
This was soooooo easy. If you have cd cases sitting around just taking up space put them to use!
The paper was $.59 at Michaels, I bought two 5x8 magentic sheets in a pack at Walmart for $1.97! Super cheap as well!
This is the other one I did!
I first cut 3 pieces of cardboard. 7in x 10 inches! Two of these are used as the covering. I then took my fancy paper and covered the cardboard! Because there was space left over that wasn't covered and I wanted to cover the lines I added a piece of paper with a different print to cover that! I took the 3rd piece of card board and cut that out to look like a frame and covered that with the same paper I used on the inside. This is the frame that goes around the magnet and kind of protects the makeup you add! Put the magnetic sheet in and then poked holes and added ribbon to bind it together. I didn't know how to bind it together because the other one I made that I threw away didn't turn out right when I tried the other method.
This one has my bronzers, highlight and my Milani bella eyeshadows!
(first time ever depotting as well)
How did I do? I love them! They aren't perfect but so cute! A lot cheaper than buying them! And who doesn't love doing things themself and being creative!
I know my little talk through is terrible. I am horrible at explaining things, especially when I just do it without following any steps!
If this inspires you and you make one, I want to see!
Stay tuned for a small product review tomorrow and I will also being getting back into my makeup challenge! Tomorrows challenge is EXTREME!
xoxo!
